It looks to me like Green Amaranth (Amaranthus viridis), Amaranthus genus.
Cape Town, South Africa, we have a Mediterranean climate…Green Amaranth (Amaranthus viridis) you say, is there perhaps a common name?
Yes, other names are red-root amaranth, redroot pigweed, red-rooted pigweed, common amaranth, pigweed amaranth, and common tumbleweed. 🙂
I think it is also called Callaloo in Africa.
