What’s the name of this bush with white flowers like a bride?
I remember when a child we were calling this bush a bride because of its white flowers. There are lots of these shrubs in the town where I spent all my childhood. But I really don’t know what’s the name of this bush, it’s scientific name. They really look so beautiful when blooming, covered with little white flowers.
This plant is called Bridal Veil bush or Bridal Wreath. Its scientific name is Spiraea vanhouttei. Family: Rosaceae
Genus name comes from the Greek word speira meaning wreath in reference to the showy flower clusters seen on most shrubs in the genus. Specific epithet honors Belgian nurseryman, L. B. Van Houtte (1810-1876).
