Which plants can help to reduce itching and pain from insects bites?
I am wondering if there any natural ways to relieve mosquitos and bugs bites. Are there any plants I can use to stop the itching from mosquitos and other bugs bites, reduce the redness, swelling and relieve the pain?
I am traveling a lot and sometimes mosquitos and other insects become a real problem. At times there is not possibility to buy a repellent, so it would be useful to learn and know herbal remedies which relieve pain, itching and swelling from insects bites.
Looking forward to your answers. Thank you!
I know that the fresh Tagetes leaves juice can relieve itching and pain of the insect bites.
Also, you can apply on the bitten areas mashed leaves of the plantain, mint or parsley. Just make sure you wash the leaves of the herbs before using them.
Dandelion juice helps to reduce itching and pain from the insects bites as well.
I use plantian. When I’m outside I will chew on a leave for really itchy bites and rub it on the bite.
Also, you can prepare a plantain olive oil infusion. For that, dry some plantain leaves, fill a jar 2/3 way full with plant material and fill up the jar with an olive oil (or you can use any oil of your choice). Cover the jar and set it in a sunny window for 4-6 weeks. After that, strain, bottle and stick a lable. Oil is good for about a year.
I know, that tea tree oil and lavender oil both soothes and repels insect bites. I’ve heard mint and eucalyptus oils are good to relieve mosquitos bites.
Also, refrigerated Vick’s Salve. Put on insect bite immediately. It kills the itch and the coolness feels great.
You can also try Aromatherapy Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint. It works really good for me. Put it on every time you get out and mosquitos will never touch you.
